Cycling Faux Pas

Loose Helmet

Strap on and buckle up! Having a well fitted helmet that is securely attached to your head will save EVERYONE a world of hurt. This means you, your family, your doctor, your cat, your dog...no one wants you to have a head injury, least of all yourself. Keep your melon protected, and by melon we mean your head!

Crack - and not the ones in the asphalt

Wear suitable clothing for cycling. There's a world of apparel just for cyclists and for good reason. Cycling apparel saves you from a LOT of chafing in all the places. All the places. It's designed to be aerodynamic, out of your way and, well, fitted. Fitted, you know... in all the right places so your cracks don't show. Crack is whack folks, any kind.

Dirty Bike

Respect the bike folks. Treat your bike well and it will treat you well. Routine maintenance prolongs the lifespan of your bike and also saves you a ton of headache for you and your mechanic when you bring it in. Clean seatpost, wipe your chain and lube that bottom bracket's cable guide. Easy peasy.

Under-Prepared

It's fine to have forgotten somethings sometimes, but to always forget your water bottle and forcing a fellow rider to constantly share? Faux pas. Make sure you've got everything a cyclist needs before heading out on a ride. Plenty of water, some emergency cash and maybe some tools (spare, patch kit, levers, mini pump, maybe?) Don't be THAT guy always bumming off their fellow cyclists and be THIS guy, the one who's got all their kits together!
