Top 7 Women Specific Road Bikes
Posted by Kitty on May 31st 2014
We all know that one of the most important aspects when selecting a road bike is comfort, so for women, why even look at a bike that was designed with a man’s body in mind? Forget about it! We want a bike designed for our body structures and to that end Bike Attack has put together a list of the top road bikes just for women. The following bikes will cover all different price ranges so there is something for everyone. Bike Attack’s team rides and rates every one of these bikes making their selection based on the best quality, performance and value for dollar. Here's our top 7 women specific road bikes.
Performance Level - $4,000
Starting off on the high end for experienced performance riders we have the Bianchi Infinito CV Dama Ultegra Compact. The name is a bit of a mouthful, but these Italian lines are truly sleek and sexy. The Infinito CV won “Best Road Bike 2014” award from several road bike magazines due to it’s patented counter vibration technology, meaning this bike rides smoother than any other carbon bike and absorbs the bumps in the road. Coming in at a price of $4,599 there’s a whole lot more than just looks to this bike. This bike is everything that you would expect from Bianchi; it accelerates fast, handles corners like a Porsche, and rides smoother than a Cadillac. Seriously, this bike absorbs shock extremely well and it is clear that the geometry was designed with a woman’s comfort in mind. This is a great racing, training and performance bike.
High Quality Mid-Level Around $2,000
For those who really enjoy riding, but are looking for a much more reasonable price range The Bianchi Intenso Dama 105, the KHS Flite 750 Ladies and the Norco Valence A1 Forma top the list.
Bianchi is quality through and through and the Intenso Dama is no exception. This bike is truly a great value for the price as it combines the same great geometry found in the Infinito Dama Ultegra plus high quality components to go along with it. Priced at $2,299 the Intenso features a full carbon frame, delivers a smooth and comfortable ride and designed just for women.
The KHS Flite 750 is another great mid-level bike just for women and priced at $1,799. Bicycling .com classified this bike as a “great first race bike in their 2014 Buyer’s Guide.” When doing a quick visual comparison against the Bianchi models, the KHS looks a little fiercer. You can certainly tell this bike was built for speed, but it as comfortable as it is fast. The Norco Valence A1 Forma is a great alloy road bike perfectly well fitted to the women’s body. The Valence comes in various models for ladies (carbon and alloy and with several group sets). We picked the Valence A1 Forma because of the great price compared to other brands and love the look and feel of the bike. It’s priced at $1295.
Entry-Level Priced under $1,000
For entry-level bikes, our team selected the KHS Flite 300 Ladies bike as one of this year’s winner. On the surface, this bike looks much like any other bike on the market for this price range. This bike blends an alloy frame with carbon forks with Shimano Claris parts. This blend helps keep the cost down, but overall quality and ride remains pretty solid. This bike has a more upright feel to it when riding, but longer rides are still fairly comfortable especially at this price point. It’s priced at $789.
We also like the hybrid road bikes Bianchi Camaleonte Quattro Dama and the Norco VFR 3 Forma which have a comfortable flat bar and can go fast at the same time. These bikes are recommended for ladies who need a fast road bike but are also looking for a more comfortable ride. They are priced at $549 and $849.
There are many other women’s specific bikes for under $500, like the Bianchi Cortina Dama, the Biria City Bike for ladies and the Linus Dutchi, but we wanted to focus in this blog solely on road bikes for ladies. Stay tuned and check back. We will be writing another blog about women’s specific city bikes soon.
