Kona Bikes

Founded in 1998, Kona is an innovative bike company with a strong presence in both the US and across Europe. Dealing mainly in various, specific mountain bike types, road bikes, cyclocross bikes, and kids’ bikes, Kona is also a bike company with heart, especially when you consider that one of their commuter bikes, known as the AfricaBike, has been distributed by the thousands throughout Africa for the purpose of transportation to school, jobs, and for obtaining vital medicines. Another popular commuter bike of Kona’s is their 2013 Dew DL, which is known for being the performance bike of commuters due to its smooth-shifting drivetrain, long-tail fenders to keep your feet dry, and wide-platform pedals. One of their “gravity” mountain bikes, the 2013 Operator, combines features that make it an ideal downhill bike while at the same time having oversized pivot axles and bearings for a gravity-defying, hardcore ride. Kona’s 2013 Honky Tonk road bike is based around Kona’s light and comfortable cromoly frame with features specific to riding in the elements, such as long-reach calipers that are better for riding in rain due to improved big-tire and fender clearance. Depending on the model, Kona bikes range from being highly technical and innovative to extremely practical and easy to fix.
